It has been over 10 years since I've eaten at El Torero and I have to say that it was outstanding! I had the 2x2 plate with 2 Beef Patty Tacos and 2 Flat Enchiladas. The Tacos tasted homemade and they don't skimp on the hamburger. The flat enchiladas were soft with a little crunch on the outside and the red chili sauce wasn't too overpowering and just the right amount of green olives. I went with the Family and tasted their dishes and it was all TASTY!! One thing I have to add is that we called in a half hour before they closed and they said "no problem will keep the kitchen open for you", and when we got the staff and ownership were all welcoming! Great Service! 👍🏼 Highly Recommend:))

Food was okay. Portion sizes were huge. I was disappointed in my tamale and wouldn't order it again. Too much masa..it was also white which was a bit odd since it's usually a bit reddish from the sauce. The taco was okay and the beans were excellent. Food was nice and hot

This is an amazing “hole in the wall”, yet it’s actually pretty big. The Mexican food is very authentic and the portions are huge! This is a must do and may be the best Mexican in Tucson. Parking can be tough. Love this place and also the house Margarita! VictorB

Excellent food. Tamale pie is very good. I ordered carne seca chimichanga style with enchilada sauce and it's great. Great drinks.

astonishingly good mexican food - the best most inventive unique memorable mexican food we have had since we moved here two years ago and we have tried plenty! the tamale pie! the tacos! the albondagas soup and the churros! sublime- cut above anywhere else and the funky atmosphere just adds - loved it and can’t wait to take others there!

I am impressed with what I order every time I come here! They have staple Mexican dishes - like the 1 by 1 or 2 by 2 (cheese enchilada with fried ground beef tacos - so good), but they also have their specials menu with creative, unique takes on the classics. And the portions are more than generous. If you haven't been here yet, go now!

It was our last night in town and we wanted to try this place again because we really enjoyed it last time. It was a HUGE disappointment for our last meal in Tucson. Chips and salsa tasted like they were from the grocery store, taco had no seasoning on the meat and my flat enchilada tasted like something old and just SALT. My tamale was really good but that’s all I enjoyed. Not to mention they don’t write a list of names down when you come in & there is a wait so they sat a group before us that came in AFTER US with the same amount of people and service was awful. I hate giving a bad review but it’s been a week and I am still super upset because it was really good in 2022 when we went.

The best place to pick up tamales! Would rate 4.5 but do t have that option. And while you’re there, enjoy a true Mexican meal. We had the Chile relleno and burrito enchilada style. Next time it will be the cheese crisp! Looked amazing! El Torero features a full bar too!
